About Comunica

Comunica is a translation and localization agency based between Denmark and Spain. Comunica helps businesses expand into new markets and reach local customers by translating and adapting their content. This includes website copies, marketing materials, SEO, multimedia, and everything in between.

Tina, Comunica’s founder, started the company in Spain after years of working as a journalist and translator. Translation work came in on the side, and when a former colleague connected her with one of the world’s largest translation agencies, things moved fast. Projects kept coming, the team grew, and Comunica evolved into the agency it is today.

Nearly two decades later, they have around 15 in-house staff and a network of over 1,000 vetted freelancers. Their main specialty is Nordic languages, though they work with all major European language combinations.

What Comunica offers

Comunica covers the full spectrum of multilingual communication, and their services go well beyond word-for-word translation.

  • Translation and localization: Translating websites, marketing materials, legal documents, technical manuals, medical content, and more, adapted to feel natural for the target audience.

  • Multilingual SEO: Optimizing content for search in each target market, either as a standalone service or alongside a website translation project

  • Copywriting: Writing original content in another language from scratch, useful when entering a new market and needing content that feels native from the start.

  • Proofreading and editing: Quality checks on both translated and original content across languages.

  • Subtitling and transcription: Supporting video and audio content that needs to reach multilingual audiences.

  • DTP and layout services: Formatting translated documents so the final file looks right, even when the text length changes significantly between languages.

  • AI-assisted translation: Using machine translation and AI tools alongside human post-editing, for projects where speed and cost efficiency are a priority.

  • Consultation: Helping clients build a localization strategy, set up workflows, or figure out the best linguistic approach for entering a new market.

Industries and clients

Comunica has worked with clients across a wide range of sectors. Their largest direct client segment is tourism, and they have significant experience in e-learning, manufacturing, technical industries, and medical and legal fields.

In terms of client size, Comunica works with everyone from growing businesses entering new markets to global language service providers who need a reliable Nordic-language partner. Geography is not a limiting factor: they work digitally with clients worldwide, with a particular focus on helping businesses reach European and Nordic audiences

How they work

Comunica assigns a dedicated account manager and a team of linguists to each client. The same people work with you every time, getting to know your brand well enough to go beyond word-for-word translation: finding the words, expressions, and tone that feel natural to a local audience.

Their premium translation workflow runs in three steps: translation, proofreading by a second linguist with the same native language and specialization, and a final review by the original translator before delivery. Digital QA tools are used throughout to catch any inconsistencies or errors.

They also use CAT tools (computer-assisted translation) for their projects. These build a translation memory for each client, so repeated phrases and content are handled consistently and cost-effectively over time.

For delivery and communication, Comunica adapts to whatever workflow works best for the client: email, their own secure client portal, a secure file-sharing platform, or even working directly within the client’s systems. There is no single mandatory process; they fit around you.
Getting started is straightforward as well. The team prefers an initial meeting to understand the client’s brand, audience, and communication goals. From there, they may develop a tone of voice guide and brief the translators assigned to that account before any work begins.

Why we recommend Comunica

Comunica shares a lot of the same values we hold at WLA: long-term relationships, clear communication, and a genuine interest in understanding what the client actually needs. They also manage their freelancers and project timelines in-house, which means clients get clear deadlines and do not have to chase anyone to know where things stand.

That is the kind of agency we are comfortable recommending. If your business needs to communicate in another language, whether for a website, a campaign, a product launch, or an ongoing content program, Comunica is a trusted choice.
