Our custom WordPress development process
Over the years, we have defined a development process to deliver consistent quality for many projects. If you choose to work with us for a first project, these are the steps we will follow.
Step 1. We Collect your Specification
Each project starts with collecting and discussing the materials for developing the site from your designs. We also offer WordPress website design as a support service for agencies.
Ideally, we’d like to receive:
a) Adobe XD files (or Sketch, PSD,…)
b) detailed instructions for functionality and UI/UX elements
c) any other preferences for how you like your sites to be built
Step 2. We quote your project
We review the provided design file(s) and provide a quote within 1 business day.
After receiving authorization to start the project, we will find an available developer with the right skills for your project. The developer will be ready to start as soon as we receive the required credentials or when it fits into your process.
Step 3. We custom-code your theme
The final design files are provided, alternatively finalized by WLA and approved by you. This is also the time to provide any additional information/content like a sitemap, functional spec or copy and image content.
The assigned developer works on the project until it is ready for initial QA review.
Step 4. We deliver your website
Our QA Engineer reviews the site within one business day.
If fixes are needed, the assigned developer makes them as soon as possible before sending the site to you for review.
You provide your feedback and the assigned developer makes fixes/edits as needed.
The QA Engineer performs another round of QA to verify fixes were made per your feedback. After you approve the site for moving live, the assigned developer moves the site live on your or our hosting environment.

Do you work with other CMS than WordPress?
All we do is WordPress and WooCommerce. We want to be the best we can be at what we do and we love the flexibility and reliability of WordPress.
Do you work with premium themes?
We do work on theme-based WordPress sites for partners who ask for it, but it is not our first choice.
Our experience shows that premium themes require more time and effort to customize, debug and maintain.
The data we have from many theme site builds shows that we frequently need to charge more for customizing existing premium themes than for building custom themes.
What builders do you use to make custom-built WordPress sites?
We prefer to work with custom-built WordPress sites using Foundation or Bootstrap as CSS frameworks.
Custom builds are still easy to work with for your clients. Each site is built on the most current version of WordPress and is compatible for future updates to WordPress core, and we use Custom Post Types and Advanced Custom Fields to make it as easy as possible for your client to update their website.
We also have experience building WordPress websites using Elementor, Gutenberg, Divi, Beaver Builder.
