About Geeks & Creatives of wisnet

For over 20 years, wisnet has been helping clients “go confidently and fearlessly into the net”. As well as building innovative and compelling websites, they offer a broad suite of digital marketing services, including brand building, website and app development, and supporting services: SEO, email marketing, content updates and hosting. During this journey, wisnet has served thousands of clients, and they’ve frequently had to manage periods of high growth. 2014 was one such period. With a great number of new development projects on their plate, wisnet needed more expertise. They needed it fast.

The team at wisnet – specifically their CEO Rick Kolstad and account manager Tracy Freund – set off on a mission to find reliable developers. Their search led them to us at White Label Agency (WLA). The prospect of working with a WordPress outsourcer offering almost infinite scalability and guaranteed deadlines made a perfect match. By partnering with us, wisnet could add the developers they needed on a month-to-month basis, from our pool of 110 in-house developers. And the partnership didn’t only solve their need for scalability; it also allowed wisnet to ensure high profitability on every project.

Navigating pandemic challenges

When the global pandemic hit, wisnet faced the same unexpected challenge as other companies in our industry: the switch to remote work set off a carousel of staff turnover. Digital agencies could no longer count on the continued loyalty of their most experienced and valuable developers. Two of wisnet’s developers departed for other companies that offered better remote work benefits and higher salaries. They left a gap to fill in a job-seekers market.

Fortunately, wisnet‘s pre-existing partnership with us at WLA handed them an immediate solution. They immediately signed up WLA senior developer Dmitry, as a full-time dedicated developer.

Tracy’s feedback on Dmitry was very positive. She noted that while some tasks might seem routine, Dmitry’s approach stood out. As Dmitry followed our WLA development standards, he not only fixed issues; he looked for the root cause. If he spotted a problem in the code, he’d reach out, explain it, and offer to correct it. Instead of just doing the task at hand, Dmitry made sure everything was done right. In Tracy’s words, “Dmitry’s attention to detail and his proactive attitude in diving deep into the code and improving it genuinely impressed us. While some might be content with just updating what’s given, Dmitry went the extra mile to ensure everything was top-notch.”

In taking on one of our dedicated developers, wisnet had a month-tomonth solution to their developer shortage that they could rely on; not just to hand in projects on time and within spec, but also to ensure profitability on every project.

Seamless scaling with WLA’s dedicated developers

One of the benefits of partnering with us at WLA is the flexibility it offers in scaling operations seamlessly. Impressed by their first dedicated developer, wisnet rapidly onboard another of our dedicated developers – Alexander.

For wisnet, it wasn’t just our development standards and the quality of our work that stood out. The easy accessibility to developers was of great value to them. “The direct communication channel with developers like Dmitry and Alexander has been very helpful. Whether it’s a quick Slack message or a detailed call, being able to directly discuss client-specific needs or seek their inputs has accelerated our project timelines,” Tracy noted.

Some people face communication problems when working with international teams, but this wasn’t a concern for wisnet in their partnership with us at WLA. Tracy and her colleague noted that the developers they hired were fluent in English. They communicated clearly, both in writing and in speech.

Additionally, wisnet’s partnership with us noticeably improved their workflow, boosting efficiency and sales. Rick noted “Our projects are moving faster. With WLA’s support, we can quickly switch tasks and complete projects. Even if sales have been consistent, this faster pace suggests potential growth ahead.”

Beyond business: a partnership rooted in trust

Our collaboration with wisnet developed over time from a temporary working relationship to a long-term partnership built on a high degree of trust. “It’s been great to have a reliable partner, that we can lean on to help move projects forward”, said Rick, “The consistency in quality and turnaround times really stood out.”

But it’s not just about the work. Personal connections have deepened the bond between the teams. Reflecting on her interactions with WLA’s Sales Manager, Joost, Tracy shared, “The relationship has been incredibly positive. The fact that Joost took the time to visit us, to understand our work environment and connect personally, was genuinely heartwarming. It’s such gestures that go beyond business, making us feel valued and strengthening our partnership.”
