WordPress 4.5 is Coming Soon!

WordPress says it’s all done developing version 4.5 and that it hopes to ship it by April 12. But it’s really up to the public to decide whether that timeline will stand.

The world’s most popular content management platform just announced its release candidate for WordPress 4.5 and is calling on developers to test their plugins and themes with the retooled system. WordPress 4.5 is now available via the WordPress Beta Tester plugin via download so that developers can use the new beta and troubleshoot any potential problems.

Right now, WordPress is calling 4.5 a “release candidate,” which essentially means that the company believes that it has gotten out all of the bugs and that the updates are ready to go live. But after making 49 changes since releasing Beta 4 just last week, there might be a few snags that still need to be worked out, WordPress said. And that’s why their current proposed release date isn’t until April.

“With millions of users and thousands of plugins and themes, it’s possible we’ve missed something,” the company wrote in a blog post. “If you haven’t tested 4.5 yet, now is the time!

WordPress put out a call to developers to report any bugs on its forums, where they will get attention from the WP team. Problems with WordPress 4.5 can be reported on the Alpha/Beta support forum. Before posting, make sure that any errors have not already been identified on the list of known bugs within 4.5 here.
